On July 30, 2026, Generations Community Bank celebrated an important milestone: the grand opening of its new Southside branch inside the Arthur R. Baxter YMCA.
Community leaders, elected officials, partners, and neighbors gathered at the YMCA, located at 7900 Shelby Street in Indianapolis, for a morning of connection, celebration, and shared commitment to the future of the Southside community.
The event marked more than the opening of a new banking location. It represented another step in Generations Community Bank’s mission to expand access to financial resources, build trusted relationships, and support the long-term economic growth of individuals, families, and businesses throughout Indianapolis.
A Celebration Rooted in Community
The grand opening brought together people and organizations working to create meaningful opportunities across Indianapolis.
Rafael Sanchez, Indianapolis Market President for Old National Bank, welcomed guests and opened the program. Attendees also heard remarks from:
- Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett
- Gregg Hiland, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis
- Peter Aung, Board Secretary for CHIN
- Angela Vandersteen, Vice President of Investor Development and Relations for Aspire Johnson County
- Alderick “Al” London, President and CEO of Generations Community Bank
Following the remarks, community leaders joined the Generations Community Bank team for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Guests were then invited to continue connecting and learning more about the new Southside location.
The gathering reflected the spirit behind this branch: strong communities grow through listening, collaboration, and relationships built over time.
