We have some exciting news to share. Generations Community Bank has been nationally recognized by the American Bankers Association (ABA) Foundation with a 2026 ABA Foundation Community Commitment Award.

The award was given to us for our work in the financial inclusion category. It will be presented at the ABA Annual Convention on Oct. 27 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

About Generations Community Bank

Expanding Financial Opportunity Across Indiana

Generations Community Bank is Indiana’s first Minority Depository Institution (MDI) Bank, a mission-driven bank created to expand financial opportunity for individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and communities historically underserved. We welcome everyone, with a commitment to helping people access the banking relationships, financial education, and capital they need to move forward.

By understanding each person’s goals and the barriers they face, we can work together toward practical next steps, whether that means building savings, preparing for a business loan, or planning for a family’s financial future.

That commitment extends beyond our branches. Through our partnership with Banzai, we support financial education in local schools and offer a free online Financial Wellness Center available to everyone. These resources help people explore budgeting, saving, credit, entrepreneurship, and other everyday financial decisions at their own pace. Community partnerships and outreach bring our team into conversations with residents about household finances, business goals, and building financial confidence.

Together, these efforts reflect why Generations Community Bank was created: to expand access, support economic mobility, and help build wealth in our communities for generations to come.

What the award recognizes

The Community Commitment Awards honor banks that make a measurable difference in their communities. The financial inclusion category celebrates efforts to increase economic inclusion for all. That can include partnering with nonprofits, government agencies and other stakeholders to help underbanked people, and people with no or limited credit history, build wealth. It can also include creating innovative, safe and affordable products that encourage underbanked customers to use mainstream financial institutions.

Entries were submitted in seven categories:

  • Affordable housing
  • Community and economic development
  • Financial education
  • Financial inclusion
  • Protecting older Americans
  • Supporting military families
  • Volunteerism

Award winners were chosen by nationally recognized experts in each field. The selection committee looked for programs, traditional or innovative, that reflect corporate social responsibility and show measurable success in making an impact.

“Generations Community Bank demonstrates how banks can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people and communities they serve,” said Lindsay Torrico, executive director of the ABA Foundation. “Their commitment to addressing local needs through innovative solutions reflects the very best of the banking industry and sets an example for others to follow.”

What this means for us

“Generations Community Bank was created because there are people in our communities with ideas, determination, and goals for their families who haven’t always had access to the financial resources or relationships to move forward,” said Al London, President and CEO of Generations Community Bank. “Our responsibility starts with listening—understanding where someone is today and helping them imagine what is possible. This recognition reflects the commitment of our team, our founding partners and investors, and the community members who have placed their trust in us. We’re grateful for that trust and focused on building opportunities that will benefit our community for generations to come.”
