Rafael Sanchez

EVP, Chief Impact Officer & Indianapolis Market President, Old National Bank

Mr. Sanchez serves on Old National Bank’s executive management team as EVP, Chief Impact Officer & Indianapolis Market President (2022-Present). He joined the bank in 2018 and previously served as ONB’s President of Private Banking.

Mr. Sanchez is an attorney and former President and CEO of Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) (2016-2018). As CEO of IPL, he was responsible for stakeholder management, community relations, customer experience, legislative and government affairs, energy-efficiency initiatives, and strategic accounts. Additionally, he implemented a strategic community engagement plan that focused on diversity and inclusion.

Prior to IPL, he was Vice President of Business Development & Legal Affairs for Fineline Printing Group (2015-2016). Prior to that, Mr. Sanchez had over 13 years of experience in civil and business litigation, assisting and advising individuals and enterprises with general corporate matters. He was a partner at the law firm of Bingham Greenebaum Doll, LLP in Indianapolis, where he was recognized as Indianapolis’s “Best & Brightest” attorney in 2013. Mr. Sanchez began his professional career in 1999 as a retail banker with National City Bank in Fort Wayne.

Rafael has and continues to serve on several boards such as 2024 Indianapolis NBA All-Star Game, Immediate-Past President of the Crossroads BSA (Boy Scouts) Council, Director of the Community Health Network board, Secretary for the Indy Championship Fund and Immediate-Past Chairman of the Board of United Way of Central Indiana, amongst other boards and community initiatives he is involved with. In September 2017, the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash award was bestowed upon Mr. Sanchez by Governor Eric Holcomb for his long-standing civic engagement efforts as a leader in the Indianapolis community. In 2019, Governor Holcomb also appointed Mr. Sanchez to serve on the State Ethics Commission, where he serves as one of 5 Commissioners.

Mr. Sanchez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences and Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico and a law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
